Why do I keep failing?

So last week I committed to my email list that I would blog or email every Saturday, sounds quite easy but I almost fell at the first hurdle.

It’s busy at work (its always busy at work) and its half term so I must confess I almost forgot! Doh

But it got me thinking why do we often fail when we set ourselves goals?! And what can we do to increase our success rate. And I’ve come up with the following…..

  1. It’s not scheduled in my diary - I’ve had a similar issue with studying but that is now solved by scheduling a time weekly to protect my time and prioritise these long term goals.

  2. I lack confidence - alot of you know I’m the quieter half of Leanda & Stacey - I thrive in the background I feel uncomfortable being ‘front of house’ but as Leanda keeps telling me I need to believe in myself more, as I have done the hard work to get us here and I’m hoping it can help others.

  3. Comfort zone - I’m beginning to realise that the only way we grow is by stepping out of our comfort zones and doing new things - there is no special book you can read it just takes time and courage. Thats why I’ve agreed to my first on stage performance (not singing you’ll be pleased to hear) but talking about all things MTD IT at Business Fest SW.

  4. Focusing on the end goal - I have wasted far too long looking at the bigger picture over the last few years and setting targets, if you want to get to your end goal, break down the route and start on the road and just keep moving, sure I’m sure there is a quicker way but most of us business owners are juggling quite alot so big plans are set to fail, small steps will often get you there rather than breaking down on the way!.

  5. Take help - I’m pretty bad at this one! I like to do things myself - especially something new but I have a team of well trained staff I need to start sharing the load with (Stacey listen to your own advice) but its hard when the project feels like your baby - or am I the only control freak?!

Well I’m going to keep it short and sweet today ( I still need to pack for Liverpool tomorrow!) If you have any other thoughts on what could help me and you suceed then let me know

Many thanks
